Can salt have a negative affect on the body?
Since salt is good for maintaing body fluid concentration, there is something to say about individuals that have high blood pressure. People suffering from high blood pressure have strain on the blood vessels from too much blood volume in the system. High sodium adds to the problem because the concentration of salt draws in water, expanding the blood channels more. The excess volume strains the heart, and can cause smaller blood vessels in the brain to burst, thus a stroke.
Salt is delicious with food. It should be used in moderate amounts, especially for those with high blood pressure.
